Alumni president donates utility bus to SUG

By Oyedeji Ahmed ( LMP )
28th of February, 2018.

The Alumni president, Mr Onilede Solomon has donated an utility bus to the students union to curb security issues. The bus was presented today to the Vice chancellor at the senate building to alleviate the challenge of immobility faced  by the leadership of students union.

While thanking the president, the Vice chancellor began he speech by, "I woke up by my right side. When I woke up, I had to put on a tie that suit my color. While trying to put on the tie, I was directed with a match combination"

Today is a beautiful day. I plead with Mr president to make today a big one because I want the council to be here. This is indeed a record, not only for LAUTECH but others to emulate.

Speaking further, "Everyone present here today are alumni of this university. But for some one to make a promise and fulfill it within a month is laudable. As such, he deserve a commendation and applaud"

Whether you are a Muslim or Christian, a promise is a promise and whoever fulfill it will be by the right side of the lord. This is very rare. He said.

The vice chancellor did not only express his deep appreciation but made an open confession about the Alumni president for his dedication and commitment towards the development of the institution.

In his remark again, he said, "Honestly Mr Onilede Solomon has started very well. I was listening to his speech very inspirational. He's donating this not for the structure but to use it for humanity sake. The complain of insecurity has been on. We are happy Mr Onilede fulfilled his promise.

The Alumni have been supporting the university long time. Alumni in diaspora have donated books to the library. And just of recent, the alumni also donated bed sheet and generator to the health Centre . This is indeed worthy of appreciation and commendation.

However, while challenging the students union, the vice chancellor reiterated that there are a lot of packages for the students union if only they can comport themselves and conduct the coming election peacefully. The coming election is the first test to all union members. If you are able to conduct it peacefully, then there are lot of promises to be fulfilled by the Alumni.

Today, the name of Mr Onilede Solomon is being written in gold. He has never forgotten his alma matter. Therefore, I challenge you ( students), to be thinking of what to do also for the university because you are becoming Alumni soon.

No doubt, LAUTCH is the best state university. This is not done by local ranking but a merited one. In the whole country, we are now 14 out of about 150 university. This is indeed a remarkable fit.

Meanwhile the DSA in his speech reiterated and emphasized on the word of the speaker that, "this development cannot be achieved without the support of the Vice chancellor"

Speaking further; We are glad to inform you today that we have the pioneer of secretary of this alumni association and his successor in person of Dr seye Abiona, Mudsshiru, amongst others. He also acknowledge and recognized the presence of the former Alumni president, in person of chief Babajide Bewaji, professor Olabiyisi, National VP, and other Alumni members present

We are all together thinking on how to move this institution forward. On that note, I say a big thank you to all of you.

JUST IN! ALL FACULTY & DEPARTMENTAL ELECTION SUSPENDED

I t  has just been confirmed from reliable source that all departmental and faculty election will be suspended till further notice. The reason for this is as result of the sad event that took place in some faculties & departments.  The call for suspension becomes imperative to arrest the ongoing situation and to further re-strategize.  In view of the above, a memo will be sent tomorrow from the office of the DSA to affirm this. Meanwhile it's important to know that the university is still mourning the death of her student who died as a result of an unknown ailment. While three students who were involved in an accident are still responding to treatment at Bowen hospital.  At this jucture, LAUTECH students should rethink and shun unnecessary violence in the university as a panacea to prevent more casualties.  Academic excellence is our primary assignment. Let's pray for uninterrupted academic activities.    Source   :  Oyedeji Ahmed ...
