LAUTECH ALUMNI CONVENTION CAPTURES A VIOLENT FREE ELECTION

By Oyedeji Ahmed ( LMP )

Today's delegate election witnessed a free and fair conduct at the VC lodge. The atmosphere was cool and peaceful. The security men on ground were also caught in total relaxation. The environment was peaceful, no any uproar or hullabaloo as witnessed in the earlier convention. No exchange of blows, punches and throwing of tantrums. The election ended well peacefully.

While some of the elected executives went unopposed, some were actually opposed. But at the end the losers and winners were caught in jubilation. The winners however extends their olive branch to their opponents and signal a word of reconciliation to all aggrieved members.

The newly elected president, in person of Mr Onilede Solomon, in his impeccable speech, made it clear that LAUTECH Alumni is a united body. He further quipped that upon his assumption to office, he will instantly constitute a committee to unite all members.

Furthermore, during his interview with TVC, he urges every member of the association to support his administration. He also went ahead talking about the importance of education in the society and vow to engage the two owner's state government of LAUTECH, Osun and Oyo, to continue to show adequate commitment.

Meanwhile a member of the association who wish to be anonymous expressed his opinion about the conduct of the election. In his statement, he emphasized that the election only captured the presence of a faction. "That other factions are not present or either out as a result of political reason". He said.

But in a swift reaction, a source also confirmed to us that the date of the election was announced and delegates and members were communicated properly. He further explained that, " out of the 12 existing chapters, that only one chapter was not present for the election". The 11 chapters in attendance and members formed a quorum according to the constitution.
